Martial Arts in Ashburton, Melbourne
Kali 3D is a Filipino Martial Arts school at 374a Warrigal Road, Ashburton, Victoria 3147, in Melbourne's inner south-east. We are a dedicated dojo rather than a hall hire or a corner of a gym, and we have been teaching Kombatan Arnis and practical self-defence to adults in this part of Melbourne for years.
Finding us
We are on the Warrigal Road strip in Ashburton, a short walk from Ashburton station on the Alamein line and an easy drive from the surrounding suburbs. There is free on-street parking on Warrigal Road and in the residential streets behind it.
Most of our students travel in from Ashburton, Glen Iris, Ashwood, Chadstone, Malvern East, Burwood and Mount Waverley, typically a ten to fifteen minute drive.
What we teach
Filipino Martial Arts is a weapons-based system that also produces some of the most practical empty-hand work in any martial art. You will train with rattan sticks, learn blade awareness and defence, and develop striking and control that does not depend on being the bigger person in the room.
What that means in practice for an Ashburton local: a class that is genuinely useful, physically demanding without being punishing, and taught in a room where people know your name by the second week.
Who trains here
Adults of every background and fitness level: office workers, tradespeople, retirees, and martial artists cross-training from other styles. We are a small, serious club rather than a franchise, and every class is taught personally by Senior Master Giovanni Zagari or Senior Master Mark Day.
